Does anyone know if there is a connection between beta strep and chronic fatigue syndrome?
March 29th, 2010 . by adminI’ve been showing all of the symptoms of chronic fatigue syndromes for around 5 years and I was a very healthy child for the most part before this. The only major illness I had was when I was born I had beta strep and almost died from it. The doctors told my parents that it could effect me some time later in life in some way or it may never effect me again. I was wondering if there was any type of correlation between these two things?
I don’t believe anyone has come up with a definitive reason for chronic fatigue syndrome although there are a lot of theories about what causes it. Your theory sounds as plausible as any.

In general, the symptoms of CFS aren’t improved by bed rest and may be worsened by physical or mental activity.
Can it be prevented?
Since it’s not known what causes CFS, it’s difficult to prevent. There’s no evidence to support the view that CFS is a contagious disease and there’s no precise identified cause.
It’s believed that a person’s genes may make them more susceptible, and that viral infection, stress, depression, or a major life event (for example bereavement, job loss) may act as triggers for CFS to develop in susceptible individuals.
