Why do my eyes always feel tired?

September 2nd, 2010 . by admin

What can cause your eyes to always feel tired? I got new glasses not too long ago and my focus is perfect. For some reason my eyes still glaze over throughout the day even if I’m not tired. What can cause this?

Some common causes -

Nutritional deficiencies
Wrong prescription for glasses
Dry eyes
Glaucoma
Accomodation spasm

What can I do to stop feeling do tired at work?

August 24th, 2010 . by admin

I always get a good night’s sleep (7-9 hours) but then at work, when I’m sat at my desk, I always feel tired, and have sometimes fallen asleep. What should I do?

To answer this question correctly, you should state your age, job,
health conditions and any other personal data that is pertinent
to your general state of mind such us, depression status of
marriage, eating and drinking habits, if any. The amount of
sleep does not necessarily mean that you slept well, you could
be snoring, dreaming which are facts you may not remember
in the morning. Nowadays there are sleep centres where you
spend the night hooked up to an ECG that can detect if you are
really resting in your sleep or if you need help. Think about it
a little longer, for in my opinion, barring any physical health, you
should consult a sleep centre

Insomnia? Irregular work hours, sleeping too late & always feeling tired even after 11hrs sleep!?

August 13th, 2010 . by admin

Ok, I work irregular hours, so there is no way to get on a set schedule. I may work 3-11 a few days, I may work 8-4 some other days. These shifts are never on the same days of the week, and days off change. I work in hospitality. I am beginning to go back to school also, I am worried I am going to be too tired to do well! I go to bed sometimes at 2 am the latest, waking up sometimes at 11a-12p if I work @ 3. I do this because I never feel rested, and always go back to sleep. It takes hours to fall asleep, and when I do I wake up a lot. It’s 5a right now and I work @ 7-I haven’t slept,, I tossed and turned for 4 hrs until I gave up. I worked until 11pm last night. I thought trying to wake up by an earlier AM time would help but I can’t get myself out of bed since I never feel rested. I always feel tired throughout the day also, regardless of amount of sleep or quality. I am not depressed, yes I am stressed and this def. isnt helping.
I am not overly happy with my job but I have to keep it through school so I can pay for school, and the bills. The amount of $$ I make is enabling me to not get student loans for a while so taking a new, lower paying job isn’t the best solution.
I have looked into trying Valerian Root to help sleep. I have tried tylenol PM and it rarely helps. I have to get back into an exercise regimen, though I always feel too tired to get to the gym because of what has been going on. It’s a never-ending cycle and it has become very difficult to fix.
=:(
I must add I am not sure Nyquil or other medicines are the best solution. I do not want to always have to take something to sleep. I have taken lots of Tylenol PM and Night Time Sinus (i’ve had a lot of sinus pain lately), which the Sinus stuff makes me feel completely drugged up and out of it when I wake up (at noon!) So I think that made it worse.
I like the exercise suggestion.. I really need to try that but it’s hard for me to feel the motivation to get there when I feel tired so much.
In fall 2009 I will be in Nursing school (right now I am doing pre-reqs) so at that time I will be working part time and taking lots of schooling so I will be sure to sleep! But.. in the mean time.. is a whole other story!
Sorry to hear Niki :(
Added Details: I am 24. I am only taking 2 classes right now, and 1 in the following 3 semesters. Then it’s full time study for Nursing…at that point I will only be working part time.
I work in hospitality management. Well, I am a supervisor, so I am lowest on the totem pole. That is all I know really, and in the town I reside that is the type of jobs available. The only other thing I would look for is probably an office job.. as a secretary or something. But all the open jobs for that require something I just don’t know.. man i need to learn quick books!
Thanks niki for the herbal suggestions. I will look into them!
AH! I’m sorry I forgot to add that I do drink a lot of coffee… but I never feel like it gives me energy. I drink multiple cups a day. Perhaps has something to do with it, or at least isn;’t helping.. but I always say coffee does nothing for me energy wise because I never feel energized or anything from it.. I just like to drink it.. ugh

Hello there! I know exactly how you feel as I’m in a similar position. My shortest shifts are four hours and longest 13 – Over recent months I’ve been working 29 hours one week and 65 the next, and my body clock is all over the place as a result. There’s little hope of me getting out of bed on my days off, let alone doing anything as mentally taxing as studying. Until last summer I was at university and found I couldn’t handle more than 18 hours’ work a week, and even that left me mentally and physicallly fatigued pretty much all the time. It was a push but I managed it. Along side full-time study, ten to fifteen hours is the recommendation, we’re just expecting too much of ourselves if we push any harder than that.

It’s got to the stage now where I’m making myself ill through lack of sleep and doing that horrendous catch-up (I slept for 17 hours one day last week and of course it made matters worse.) I’m on the look out for a new job, I can’t handle it anymore. I would suggest you do similar. I’ll stay in my job for as long as it takes to find something more suitable but I can’t keep taking risks with my health for the sake of my job. If nothing else, it’s making me so tired I can be a liability to myself when performing the simplest of tasks.

Just be careful and try not to push yourself too hard.

P.S. I can recommend Bach Rescue Remedy for when it gets too much – it’s completely herbal and just helps you unwind a bit in order to relax, and if you have trouble sleeping at all, again totally herbal, Kalms Sleep tablets are pretty good for me. I try not to rely on the tablets but most nights I have a few drops of Rescue Remedy before attempting sleep!

How do I stop feeling tired all the time?

July 28th, 2010 . by admin

At work I always feel tired and I yawn a lot. I get enough sleep, around 7-8 hours and I don’t work super hard so I’m not getting tired out. I do not work at a desk and I am always moving around doing stuff and lifting stuff. I’m not very active outside of work though.

Im a profesional athlete and recently i have had a lack of energy. Its still pre season for my football(soccer) but no matter what the supplements i take my natural energy is down.
The sleeping is what my doctor pointed out. I sleep around 8-9 hours but its the wrong hours. The most important hours are the ones before 12. Try that and also not eating so late. When you eat lets say after 8…your body is breaking down that food. And if you then go to sleep, your body doesnt just shut down…it still works, so in the morning your body hasnt had as much sleep as you may think it has.
But the number 1 thing is that ENERGY creates ENERGY.

Why am i ALWAYS feeling so tired, hungry, and sad or down?

July 27th, 2010 . by admin

Don’t get me wrong i don’t have a horrible life with horrible parents and i’m not a rebellious teenager.
I’m a 14 year old with supportive and way over protective parents.
I’ve gotten a GPA of 4.0 almost all my life.
I actually have a pretty good life but lately everything is changing.
THe biggest thing is that i’m ALWAYS TIRED.
i go to bed at 9 and wake up at 7. THats 10 hours of sleep.
but somehow it takes all the strength i have just to wake up and change.
and at school i just feel like i don’t belong
even when i’m around so many people all i can think about is being at home sleeping!
and when i’m not thinking of sleep i’m thinking of food.
I have a pretty good appetite.
I probably eat more than normal 14 year olds. i eat meat and some vegetables and fruits.
i’m just not myself lately i feel down and sad all the time.
do you think this might be anemia?
any ideas why i’m so tired hungry and feeling down ?

There are literally dozens of possibilities for why you are always tired. You should contact a doctor to be safe, but here are a few things that might be causing it that don’t require medical attention:

Your mattress. Uncomfortable sleep doesn’t do much for having energy.

Exercise. If you can maintain a 4.0 and you have overprotective parents, you probably don’t get out much.

Hormones. Being 14, you are in the middle of one of the largest changes in body chemistry you will ever experience. You might just need to ride it out.

always feeling tired (Lack of energy)?

March 29th, 2010 . by admin

specially when I’m exercising , I’ve been exercising for 6 years and never felt that way b4 , I used to run for 1 hr , now its hard for me to run for 30 min , always feeling heavy , sleepy , and tired as if I’m taking cold and flu pills. I’ve purchsed vitamins to combat fatigue and to restore physical effeciency and its my first day today, my friend also told me to try driking Gatorade with the workout but I dont want to do that cuz it has lots of calories and im on 1200 cal diet. I cant break my diet. any Advice?

Hi.
Although the information you have given is incomplete I am sure you are overtrained which is a serious condition!!
http://www.physsportsmed.com/issues/2001/05_01/uusitalo.htm
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Overtraining
What you need to do is take a 2-3 week off with NO TRAINING at all!! Increase your intake of calories.
Does a car run without any fuel? The same applies to you. If you restrict your intake of calories for too long you won´t be getting the nutrients you need, your metabolism will slow down (which will make it easier for you to get fat prompting you to further reduce your caloric intake). You need to get your metabolism up by eating normally for a few weeks. Just increase your consumption slowly over the course of 5-10 days or so. Then you need to eat enough to maintain weight for some time and give your body time to recover. This will take some time, pending on how long you have been overtraining and how long you haven´t eaten enough.
You are going about this the wrong way!! Read well the articles I showed you and then rethink your strategy.
Good luck!!

Am always feeling tired.?

March 22nd, 2010 . by admin

Am always feeling tired. physically and mentally.

I sleep up to 8 hrs each day, and weekend probably 9hrs.

my diet is fairly good, i dont have much bread, pasta’s etc as it makes me more tired, when i eat anything i feel tired, even when eating snacks, even if its healthy food/snack. when i have my good sleep, i wake with a dead body. me legs have no energy.
i do aerobics 2x weekly and walking everyday for 30 min a day.
work front of a computer 6hr, but i do have 10/15min break.
when i want to sleep i cant, and when moments come where i shouldnt sleep, am nodding of.
what should i do? am not keen on tea or coffee, only have it when my head has fallen on the desk!!
I drink 1 litre of water a day

Diet and exercise can usually fix this. Some people find it better to work out in the morning. Some at night. You need to play around with your diet and exercise routine to see what works better. You should try bumping up how much you exercise as well as the intensity level you do it at. If there is no improvement then you could have a medical problem you should seek help for. It could be something as simple as low blood sugar levels. You won’t know for sure until you seek help.
