Let’s Get It On – 1973 Marvin Gaye

October 29th, 2009 . by admin

Released: September 1973.On Let’s Get It On, Marvin Gaye articulated love and in ways that presented sex as what it is for adults, a temporary escape from the world. Not until Prince’s “1999″ (the single, not the album) did someone articulate the dichotomy between social awareness and personal necesities more succinctly. Let’s Get It On was a bit more conventional musically (soul crossing into mild funk) and much more focused lyrically than it’s predecessor, What’s Going On. The record is about loneliness, about ego, about all that goes into someone’s mind when he or she is trying to make another person matter. Let’s Get It On takes place in a bedroom, but it’s about more than the act itself. As much as What’s Going On, the album is about fitting into a perfect community. It’s impossible to choose one album over the other. After brilliantly surveying the social, political, and spiritual landscape with What’s Going On, Marvin Gaye turned to more intimate matters with Let’s Get It On, a record unparalleled in its sheer sensuality and carnal energy. Always a sexually charged performer, Gaye’s passions reach their boiling point on tracks like the magnificent title hit (a number one smash) and “You Sure Love to Ball”; silky and shimmering, the music is seductive in the most literal sense, its fluid grooves so perfectly designed for romance as to border on parody.

Why am I always tired?

October 1st, 2009 . by admin

If you are physically fit, eating the right things, active and getting between 6 and 8 hours sleep every night and always tired, you may have a more serious problem.

You could be anaemic. People with anaemia lack iron in their red blood cells. A sign of anaemia is when your lips split. If this is happening to you then iron tablets can help plus changing your diet to include more iron.

Although you are in bed 6 – 8 hours, you may not be sleeping properly (you may have the quantity but not the quality of sleep you need). You may be suffering from the sleeping disorder – sleep apnoea. This disorder causes you to stop breathing, only for a moment but will disturb you sleeping patterns. If this is happening to you then you need to visit your doctor who should direct you to a specialist.

If your diet is fine but you’re always feeling tired then you might have an allergy to something you’re eating. Having an allergy to a particular food group prevents you from absorbing all the nutrients you need. Finding out which food groups is causing the allergic reaction requires a degree if trial and error. Remove one food type at a time from your diet to assess any differences you experience. Failing that, you could visit your doctor or dietician for a test.

One thing you should reduce in your diet is caffeine. Caffeine is a well known stimulant and works in the short term in giving you a boost. Over the longer term however, consuming too much can lead to fatigue. Caffeine is found in tea, coffee and some chocolate. If you are finding it difficult then try a decaffeinated coffee type.

Finally, a more serious problem may be heart disease. If you heart isn’t working properly then the isn’t flowing as it should and you may not be getting the levels of oxygen you need to vital parts of the body. Activity, even the less strenuous can lead you to feel always tired, even if you didn’t in the past.

Overall, always feeling tired may mean there is some underlying problem that needs solving. While you may engage in self diagnosis, it is the best to be safe and visit your doctor. Hopefully it won’t be anything serious but you can’t be too careful. By taking some professional advice you won’t be always tired
